Kubota ZD331

Review

The Kubota ZD331 zero-turn mower is the largest machine in Kubota’s Z-series. There are actually 3 similar but slightly different models of the ZD 331. These are the Kubota ZD331P-60, the Kubota ZD331LP-72, and the Kubota ZD331RP-60R. Obviously the Kubota ZD331LP-72 has a 72-inch deck, while the other 2 have 60-inch width-of-cut decks. All three models are powered by a diesel engine that produces 31 horsepower. It is a 3-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with a displacement of 1, 261 liters. The engine is started by a 12-volt battery that provides the engine with 450 cold cranking amps. A 14-amp alternator then recharges the engine.

Power from the engine is transferred to the wheels via a 2-HST dual hydrostatic transmission that gives the Kubota ZD331 infinite speeds in both forward and reverse. The speed and direction of the mower are controlled through the turn bars located in front of the driver. The ZD 331 reaches a top speed of 17 km/h forward and 8. 5 km/h in reverse.

The deck on the Kubota ZD331 mower is made of steel, making it strong enough to resist most bending, breaking and warping, even when hitting a fixed object on the ground. The trailing edge and leading edge of the header have a series of anti-fouling wheels. These wheels prevent the deck from scratching, marking or scarring your lawn. The total weight of the ZD-331 ranges from 763 kg (1, 681 lbs) to 803 kg (1, 770 lbs) depending on the model in question. If you currently own or have owned this mower, please leave a comment about it below to let others know what to expect from it and whether or not you would recommend it.
