John Deere LA165

Review

The John Deere LA165 lawn mower is the second largest in the 100 series of lawn mowers that JD produced over a 2-year period, from 2008 until production ended in 2010. The largest model in the series is the John Deere Lawn TractorLA175, while the John Deere LA155 mower is obviously a bit smaller. The JD LA165 gets its power from a 0. 724 liter (44 cubic centimeter) Briggs and Stratton engine. This V-twin engine pumps out 24 horsepower that turns the wheels and blades on the mower deck. The engine is started by a standard 12 volt battery that is recharged by a 16 amp alternator when the engine is running. The engine is designed and built by Briggs and Stratton and is the Extended Life Series (ELS) specialty engine. This means that many different extras have been built into the motor that allow it to last up to 50% longer than similar motors from other brands.

The John Deere LA165 uses the simple but highly functional CargO Mount hitch system. This allows the operator to quickly and effortlessly attach or detach baggers, an awning or other accessories compatible with this mower. As the JD LA165 is a larger machine that is commonly used by contractors, it typically sees a lot of wear and tear (and some abuse) along with regular use. That’s why the John Deere team has built it with a cast-iron front axle that won’t bend, even under very heavy loads during the roughest driving.

The John Deere LA165 has a capacity of 15. 1 liters (4 US gallons) for regular models, but for ‘California’ models, it has a reduced capacity, capable of holding 8. 5 liters (2. 25 US gallons) ofgasoline. The best thing about the JD LA165 fuel tank is that it is translucent so that the operator can easily see how much gasoline is left in the tank during operation.

10 Reviews of the John Deere LA165

Bought it new in 2009. 12 years and 5 houses later (military) still going strong. Pushes snow, drive box blades gravel, mows everything. Two properties are used for landscape. First solved cold start problem. Bought it as a box store disposable mower but it still works along with regular maintenance.

I have used this tractor to pull talled trees with large roots. I have been very hard with this tractor and still helped me. I maintain oil and fat accessories and cut the grass at medium speed to save RPM. A 48 ″ cutting platform with greased spindles will cut much more silently … Esp. After sharpening the blades enough to shave with. I can cut 7 ″ inches of hal f-gas grass without loss of performance or results.

Management gear mechanism is of poor quality in the best, replaced twice within the first 6 years.(Short a flat garden with very little twist). The painting began to get dressed before the age of two, first on the platform and then in the tractor itself. The platform bearings and the front wheels are not of quality, they will not last. My experience is that I don’t buy John Deere! If their agricultural tractors were like this, Oliver would be the only green tractors …

I like the tractor … but I can see where bad criticisms come from after just using it for approx 25hrs .. cover comes from much easier than LT155 … but maybe that’s because he will have to do it.

I was sick for a couple of years. I had other people to cut my patio during that time. The other cutcases made a great job to put the JD shaped. I have had Craftesmansman’s biddes for which I paid between $ 100 and $ 300 and that I should have bought used. I’ve never been so disappointed with a corteped. I assure myself that everyone I see looking at the cortespedes know what I know. JD does not make a good corteped. Even when I am at the concessionaire getting pieces. They don’t like that. For the price we paid for that one one, one would appreciate that it was better built. With the money we have spent on repairing it and time working on it. I could have bought something much bigger and that can handle the cut of a garden. I don’t think there is another JD in this patio. Oh yes, I had a 110 cut and I think he did a better job. In my opinion, LA165 is a loss of money. Maybe that’s why they only manufactured them for 2 years.

I was proud to buy my tractor John Deer. I believed the hype. I have been totally dissatisfied with the machine, and this will be my first and last purchase.

I bought this tractor to replace a 1979 simplicity with which I was tired of working every year. It was used with only 40 hours in it and seemed new. I have to work on this John Deere La165 almost every time I cut the grass. I wash my tractors after each cut and remain in a garage and this tractor has been maintained by JD recommendations with fat and JD oil. When I washed it the first time, the roof paint began to get on dressed. The first time I cut the grass with him, the length of the reaper left. The next time he began to make noise when the blades are engaged. This noise became stronger. After the 4th mowing I discovered that 2 of the 3 blades of the blades had broken down. Before finishing the 7th cut the engine began to petard and lose power under load. I have not yet found this problem. I would like to have my old Simplicity back.

It’s time to see what competition offers.

In general I am very disappointed with the quality of this product. My wife and I worked at John Deere, so we wanted to support the business, but I feel they have disappointed us. He had 2 shortcuts (a craft that bought used for $ 300 and the la165 that bought for $ 2700) and used the craftman for all the rough sections of the garden (without going down to pick me up stones or sticks) and the John Deere for the flat areas that had beenPrelimposed of sticks and stones. So having all the problems in a expensive corteped and no problem in one that I have abused is quite discouraging.

I did not like the cutting performance, and the design of the address is simply primitive …
