Husqvarna YTH1542XP

Review

The Husqvarna YTH1542XP riding mower is not as powerful as virtually any other Husqvarna machine available. It’s at the opposite end of the spectrum when compared to yard tractors like the Husqvarna GTH26K54 and Husqvarna GTH2754. The YTH 1542 XP gets its power from a 15PS Kawasaki twin. This engine has a full pressure lubrication system and uses a paper element air filter to purify the intake air. Although this mower is small, it is powered by a 12-volt battery. This battery is recharged once the engine is running via a 13 amp alternator.

The Husqvarna YTH1542XP uses a Hydro-Gear 314-0510 hydrostatic transmission to transfer power from the engine to the wheels. The amount of power the wheels receive is controlled by a foot pedal. The Hydro Gear transmission makes the YTH1542 XP an infinite speed automatic. Although this riding mower is much smaller than others, it unfortunately does not have a very small turning radius. Its minimum turning radius is 18 inches.

The deck on the Husqvarna YTH1542XP mower has a 42-inch cutting width. This mower deck is connected to an electric PTO. The blades are driven by a belt. The platform has a 3-inch operating range, from a low height of 0. 5 inches above the ground to a height of 3. 5 inches. The deck is raised and lowered electrically giving you infinite cutting heights. You can optionally purchase a rear bagging attachment for the YTH 1542 XP to collect grass clippings, which will leave your lawn looking much cleaner and tidier than just dumping it out the side of the deck. The Husqvarna YTH1542 XP comes with an hour meter so you can accurately calculate when to have it serviced.
