The Cub Cadet GT3100 is one of two Cub Cadet 3000 series mowers. It is the most powerful range of Cub Cadet riding mowers. The engine powering the GT 3100 is a 23-hp Command engine from Kohler. This V-twin engine uses a pressurized oil pump to ensure complete lubrication throughout operation. Engine power is transferred via a shaft drive system that avoids the use of rubber belts. Power is delivered to the machine’s wheels via a hydrostatic shaft drive, making the machine automatic without having to worry about changing gears. The nice thing about using shaft drives to drive both the wheels and the mower deck is that very little power is lost along the way.
The Cub Cadet GT3100 has a choice of 3 mower decks. The smallest has a 44-inch width of cut, while the largest has a 54-inch width of cut. The mid-size mower’s deck has a 50-inch cutting width. It’s important to note that if you choose the 54-inch mower deck on the GT 3100, it won’t be able to handle grass as long or wet as the 44-inch mower deck without the risk of getting stuck.
While there’s the option of a mulching kit on the Cub Cadet GT3100, you can also purchase optional baggers to pick up clippings instead of leaving them on your lawn. The mower deck uses QuickAttach technology developed by Cub Cadet to allow the operator to very quickly couple or uncouple the mower deck without having to use a tool kit. Raising and lowering the bed of the GT 3100 is a breeze thanks to a hydraulic lift that requires little effort on your part. There are also snow blowers and other accessories that are compatible with this model. The other model in the series is the Cub Cadet GT3200 riding lawn tractor.
