John Deere Z930A

Review

The John Deere Z930A Zero Turn Mower is larger and more powerful than the John Deere Z920A or John Deere Z925A. The engine that powers the JD Z930A is a Kawasaki that curiously is fueled by gasoline (not diesel as you might expect for a commercial mower). The engine provides a maximum power of 29 CV. This engine uses a fully pressurized lubrication system that comes with a replaceable oil filter to keep everything running smoothly. The engine also has a single wall muffler to prevent excessive noise during operation. The Kawasaki engine is started by a 12-volt battery that provides 300 cold cranking amps to the engine. This battery is charged via a 20 alternator when the engine is started.

The John Deere Z930A zero-turn mower’s engine transfers power to the wheels via a Tuff Torq dual hydrostatic transmission. This transmission allows control of each rear wheel independently using the lap bars in front of the operator. By pressing the lap bars in opposite directions, you can execute zero radius turns. The rear wheels on the JD Z930A mower each measure 24×12-12 (24-inch diameter, 12-inch width, 12-inch rim diameter). The rear wheels are much larger than the front wheels because they support most of the weight of the mower. They are also responsible for steering and power. The front wheels are really only there to balance the JD Z 930 A and to make sure that the mower deck doesn’t scrape the ground as you’re traveling over it.

There is a choice of 3 different mower decks for the John Deere Z930A Zero Turn Mower. The first is a 60-inch deck that dumps grass out to the side, the second also has a 60-inch cutting width and can chop grass clippings on demand and the largest is a 72-inch deck.
