I bought this new in 2005 and still use it. It is still going strong and has mowed my almost full are yard at least once a week every season. Regularly maintained by either JD’s shop or myself. No major issues and just a belt abd battery in 1 year.
I’m lovin ‘it. I’ve had it 12 years. No complaints. Self maintained.
The machine is not mine. I keep it for a neighbor. It is in good shape, but they are junk built. JUNK machine. More like a BAT made scrap heap. Junk hood mount. Very flimsy. Do they really expect the hood to stay together? Bad address. A 6 year old can design a better address. The front wheels cannot be aligned. It eats the tires. Trash Mower Lift Design. My 318 doesn’t have that much junk. Loud and sounds like cheap junk motors. The platforms are pure garbage. My 31 year old 210 has a better stock deck. It feels like junk when you’re on it. They are junk machines. They are only good for mowing a small garden. Don’t waste your money or time with this style of mower. They are garbage.
I bought my L108 used and have not had any problems with it. I’ve had to change the strap and battery and that’s it. The engine does not smoke, starts always and cuts very well. I’ve mowed yards from 3/4 acre to 5 acres with it, and it just keeps going. I am selling it after upgrading to a zero turn as 5 acre mowing was taking a long time with the L108.
bought new in HD, serviced myself. It has been a great purchase very happy with the mower which started smoking last year getting ready to replace the head gasket. still running strong.
I really like the L108 model, but I wish I could find what is keeping it from running after 30 minutes of mowing. I’ve even checked the cooling fins and nothing is clogged. I keep the mower very clean and blow the grass off after every mow.
What you will find as I did Chuck is that the mower is starving for fuel, I had this same problem, with a similar JD that I bought for $500 NZ. It would run for about 10 minutes and stop, I have checked the fuel filter and carb bowl. Next removed fuel line from filter and pressurized fuel tank, no fuel coming out. I got some mig wire from my mig welder, bent the end over and worked the wire up the fuel line back and forth, back and forth until the fuel came through, Lots of dirt came out, Alsoi cleaned the fuel tank out the best i could, thatv was 4 years ago, no problems since.
