The John Deere 312 is another JD mower model that is not particularly well known. This is partly due to the fact that it has been in production for over 30 years. The JD 312 had a production run of only 1 year from 1977 to 1978. The JD 312 gets its power from a . 476 Kohler K301AQS gasoline engine. This is a cylinder that gives a power of 12 CV to drive the wheels and turn the blade of the mower deck.
As you can no doubt guess, there is obviously a rear bagger attachment that came as an option on the John Deere 312 available for new buyers. These days, however, given the fact that any JD 312 you lay your eyes on will be at least 30 years old, more and more you find it being operated without its original bagger. This isn’t much of a problem, as people have often added larger or more user-friendly baggers to their John Deere 312s. Just remember that adding a rear bagger to any John Deere mower will change your weight distribution, forso it is advisable to add weight plates to counteract this change in weight distribution. In addition to adding a bagger, you can also attach other attachments to the 312. These include snowplows as well as front blades.
If you are looking for other models similar to the JD 312, then you should have a look at the John Deere 316 and John Deere 318 mowers as both of these machines are from the same series but happen to be way more popular. If you own (or have owned) a John Deere 312 mower then feel free to leave a comment below detailing what you like and dislike about it. Don’t forget to also mention any modifications you’ve made to it or problems you’ve had with it or any other accessories you use with it that haven’t been mentioned above.
