The Husqvarna RZ4623 Zero Specker is a 23 hp machine with a 4 6-inch cutting platform. Sometimes reference is also made to RZ 4623 for its model number, which is 966 67 82-01. I have investigated before buying and decided to leave a comment to help others who may be considering a ZTR. My 1 2-yea r-old JD LT155 has recently bit the dust, which has forced me to make a quick purchase because the grass does not stop growing when the corteped is stopped. So far I am satisfied with the host. Cutting my surface used to take 3 and a half hours with the JD LT155. This Zero Turn does the job in less than an hour. 0. 8 to be exact.
From the perspective of the ZTR. I have operated several hig h-priced commercial ZTR in the past. I personally did not possess them because I could never afford the price of $ 9000+. Here are my observations of an ordinary budget owner. The Husqvarna RZ 4623 is not a commercial host. The controls are not so refined and the entrances in the bars are not as soft as in a hig h-price host. With commercial hosts, when passing around trees, rocks, mulch beds, etc. there is no need to reduce speed. RZ 4623 is not so precise, so a slightly slower speed is necessary to navigate gardening obstacles. But … I am completely satisfied with the quality of the cut. For $ 2500 and some change, the cortesped has the right price and does an excellent job. It is not a Cadillac but does not have the price of a Cadillac. For the average owner like me I don’t think you can go wrong with RZ 4623. The Kohler engine also has an impressive reputation and I can get oil filter, fuel filter, air filter and spark plugs almost anywhere. The 23HP is soft and really pleasant. Do not blink at the high and thick grass, even when cutting up. However, the front is not articulated, which would be fine if Husqvarna included it in future models.
So far the only thing lacks is traction. Going down slopes, even releasing the controls to stop first. Forget about turning, no matter how slow the cutter moves downhill. The tires simply turn in opposite directions while the corteped continues in a straight downline. The newly cut grass cuts are also wet, which has a negative effect on traction. For the price I am happy and I can afford a set of traction tires for the rear and yet is less than the price of a residential ztr cub cub cubet that have the same traction problems.
I have investigated a lot. Cub Cadet RZT 50 seems to have more negative than positive (quality problems). JD zero turns (unless you pay $$$ for the commercial version) only offer the Briggs and Stratton engine that I am not a big fan of, but that is just my opinion. The JD LT155 that I just retired had the Kohler engine and was bulletproof.
You get what you pay. If you can fall $ 7000 or more in a commercial ZTR you can have a refined machine capable of doing the same task as my $ 2500 Husqvarna does. I will give up some delicacy and comfort and save the extra $$$.
By the way, I cut about 4 acres of irregular land. Some gently inclined, some planes, obstacles in abundance (rock outcrops, fruit trees, fence pature) in conclusion … If you buy one of these grass cutters, be careful in the descent no matter how slow, short or thesteep. Once this thing begins to slide does not stop until you want. You will not want to spoil a new and shiny machine if all you have in front is a tree, a ditch or a building. The rear tires are 18 × 8. 5 × 8. You can google this information, thus and see that the most aggressive tires can be found for $ 60 each. I suppose that a more aggressive tire will do both damage to my patio and 2 smooth tires spinning or sliding. But I will be comfortable to have more control of where I go. I will probably have to be a little more careful when turning with aggressive tires. If your garden is relatively flat or slightly inclined, you don’t have to worry.
