The Toro TimeCutter ZX440 Zero-Turn Mower is quite similar to the Toro TimeCutter ZX480 in many ways, except for the most obvious, which is that it has a smaller cutting deck. The deck of the Time Cutter ZX 440 mower has a 44-inch cutting width. This deck is constructed of heavy-duty steel and features 3 ripstop wheels attached to the front of the leading edge that follow the contours of the ground as the mower deck passes over it, preventing you from accidentally scraping it. The mower deck travels 3 inches from a height of 4. 5 inches to a height of 1. 5 inches above the ground. It can be adjusted in small 0. 5-inch increments.
The blades in the mower deck on the Toro TimeCutter ZX440 are belt driven. The standard mower deck configuration is to discharge clippings out the side of the deck. However, if you wish, you can purchase an optional shredder kit or even a rear bagger to collect the clippings. On the platform, you’ll notice a deck wash port to which you can connect a garden hose to clean the inside of the deck.
The motor that drives both the wheels and the blades of the Toro TimeCutter ZX440 is a Kohler Command model. This engine has a displacement of 0. 656 liters and produces 18 hp. It is key start and uses a dual element air filter to clean the air intake and prevent any particulate matter from entering the engine where it can potentially clog the combustion chambers. The engine has a pressure lubrication system with a spin-on oil filter to keep things running smoothly. There are other more powerful TimeCutter models such as the Toro TimeCutter SS5060 and the Toro TimeCutter SS5000. Please leave your thoughts on the ZX 440 in a comment below.
