The John Deere 6400 is a highly regarded tractor produced in the nineties from ’92 to ’98 in Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg in Germany. The JD 6400 replaced the John Deere 2955. It had a CD4045 85PS, turbocharged, 4-cylinder, 4. 5-litre engine built by John Deere itself. It required up to 17. 5 liters of engine coolant and ran on diesel, not gasoline. The 6400 transmission can be chosen from 4 different configurations: 1) A SyncroPlus which with its 9-inch PermaClutch triple clutch and wet discs, had 12 forward and 4 reverse gears. 2) A partial gearshift PowrQuad, again with a triple 9-inch PermaClutch and wet disc, giving you 16 forward and reverse gears in this setup. 3) A SyncroPlus Creeper that provides 21 forward speeds and 7 reverse. 4) A PowrQuad rake that provides 28 forward speeds and another 28 reverse.
The John Deere 6400 has a 2. 4 m (94. 5 in) wheelbase and a transport weight of between 3, 970 kg (8, 754 lbs) and 3, 450 kg (7, 605 lbs), depending on whether the 6400 version you are purchasingit is 4WD or 2WD and comes with a cab or ROPS. There are also a number of front loader attachments suitable for the 6400. The John Deere 620 loader has a bucket width of 1. 54 m (61 inches) and a breakout force of 2060 kg (4, 542 lbs). The John Deere 640NSL loader has a bucket width of 1. 54 m (61 inches) and a breakout force of 2075 kg (4, 575 lbs). The John Deere 640SL front loader also has a 1. 54 m (61 in) bucket width, but its breakout force is higher than the others at 2, 360 kg (5, 205 lbs).
The John Deere 6400 was an incredibly popular tractor in its day for the simple reason that it was not a huge, powerful, and very expensive model. It was a mid-range model, but powerful enough to lift and haul heavy loads, but not so big that it was awkward in tight spaces.
